The two views of the hologram you see above are just two of the images you see as you turn the hologram back and forth. In other views you see things like the word "security" come into and out of view.

The idea of the security hologram is not to make something that can never ever be counterfeited. With enough time and money most things can be copied. The idea is to make the barrier to copying so expensive and difficult that no common criminal will want to try.

In order to recreate a hologram like the one above, with all its ornate designs and color changes, you would have to invest a tremendous amount of time and money. Furthermore, the use of holograms on products helps narrow the field of possible criminals because they have to have the machines and supplies to produce the holograms - all of which can be tracked by police.
