Video and CGH

The hologram on the cover of the 6th edition of the Holography MarketPlace  is unquestionably one of the best embossed holograms available. It was done to demonstrate the three types of items that you can put in a embossed hologram. These are flat images, Computer Generated Holograms (CGH) and Video.

The cover design itself is very interesting. The artist decided to make a design that would catch the attention of people browsing in a bookstore. Since the hologram was rectangular, a design was made of boxes which start large and get consecutively smaller and end with the hologram in the center. Each box has multicolored borders which blend into other colors. Small boxes are placed at the corners which further accentuate blending of colors.

The interesting thing about the design is that you often think "what if I went all-out with a multicolored background design?  Would it work or would it overwhelm the viewer?" This cover provides that subject and the answer has to be left for the viewer. It is one of those art pieces that you either love or hate.
