Holography MarketPlace 3rd edition

Two Image Hologram

This is a very interesting cover for two reasons. One is the type of hologram and the other is the background.

The hologram is what is referred to in the industry as a "two channel hologram" which simply means that as you rock the image from left to right you see one image from one direction and a second image from another direction. This particular hologram was very well done in that regard. Please see the close up to get more detail.

The cover background was chosen after looking at the hologram. In most lighting conditions the hologram has a greenish hue. The background was chosen to complement the color of the hologram while not fighting with it for attention. This worked very well. Had the cover been stark white or some other color there would have been a clash of colors. This is similar to choosing a matt for a print you want to frame.

In other words, you usually either have some artistic background statement you want to make (for example, promoting a product) or you just want to have the hologram make the statement. If you just want to present the hologram, as in this case, it is wise to pick a background color that complements the hue of the hologram.

It is not possible, of course, to demonstrate the depth the hologram gives without having a physical copy to hold and move around.

You can get a copy of the ad by simply ordering the publication it is in (hmp3). It removes easily from the book. The cost is inexpensive ($20) and can be ordered here.
